Love My New Phone

A few weeks ago our car got broken into and Brock's cheap pay as you go cell phone was stolen. When Telus wouldn't transfer the 50$ credit in minutes we had on Brock's phone to mine I decided it was time to look for a new service provider. I brought up the idea of getting smart phones to Brock and he was not impressed. This is a man who HATES cell phones!! He didn't even want the one he had except that I made him get it when I was pregnant with Caitlyn, just in case I went into labor when he wasn't home.

Somehow 3 or 4 days after I had initially brought up the idea to Brock he managed to convince himself that he needed a smart phone and we went out and picked up two Sony Xperia Arc android phones (no I'm not being paid for this post and unfortunately I did have to pay for the phones).

Point is I LOVE my new phone! I love that I can do a quick twitter check while on my lunch break at work. I love that I can send a message to a friend without having to open up my laptop. I love that I'm feeling more connected.

But most of all, I LOVE the camera feature. I can take so many more random pictures of Caitlyn, work we're doing around the house, or just somewhat inappropriate situations at home:

Case in point, the drunk Scout doll. I woke up one morning to find this exactly as you see it now. Needless to say we had a conversation about the proper place for a beer bottle but it makes a darn good picture.

Another lesson for Daddy, don't leave your wallet within Caitlyn's reach.

A prime example of Caitlyn's bed head.

Yes that's Caitlyn's matching diaper cover on her head. It doesn't fit on her bum with her bulky cloth diapers. Looks cute though, don't you think.

and last but definitely not least, I can never seem to get a good self-portrait with a bulky SLR (I blame the fact that I'm a lefty). But check out the killer shot of me and my love

While it will never take the place of my beloved Nikon SLR,  I'm super happy to have an easy to use camera at my disposal at a moment's notice.

P.S. It takes videos too! But that's for another day :)

Have a fantastic day!

First Trip to the Zoo

For Canada Day weekend this year we had some great friends of ours come up and took both our families to the Toronto Zoo. It was a blast!

Caitlyn started out super happy

We saw a rhinoceros (confession, before posting this I googled rhinoceros just to make sure I labeled it right. For whatever reason I started to think it might be a hippopotamus)

Check out the crazy huge butterfly. I included the far away shot with the people's heads to give you some perspective on how huge this butterfly was.

We saw lots of animals, no idea what we were looking at here. Don't worry I had a tight grip on her the whole time. No lion's gonna eat this kid.

After seeing these pictures, I may have to invest in a bra that clips the straps in the middle so they stay hidden. On the bright side, at least it sorta matches!

It's funny how perspectives change when you become a parent. In the past when I went to the zoo, I was all about getting up close to the animals and seeing them. But this time, it didn't matter so much if I got to check them out. I was all about what Caitlyn thought of the animals, how she liked them, did it make her happy. The whole day was for Caitlyn and while I definitely enjoyed myself it was for different reasons than I would have in the past.

I love how he's smiling for the camera. Well hello there Mr. Turtle

Eventually she got a little tired and missed out on the camels.

Caitlyn was such a good sport for most of the day. It's not too often that she spends an entire day strapped in her car seat and stroller. I wasn't too comfortable with her crawling around because it was pretty busy. This actually worked out really well until it was time to drive home. The entire way both the kids were pretty cranky. We tried stopping at a service centre to let Caitlyn walk and crawl around a bit hoping that she would cheer up. Unfortunately that didn't work. In the end, we ended up googling her favorite Treehouse show Four Squares. That helped for a while, thank goodness for smart phones and data plans :)

We had an amazing day overall and I'm really glad we went. Caitlyn paid attention to the animals and really enjoyed looking at them. I can't wait to go back next year when she's a bit older and can appreciate the zoo even more.

It's Been Hot!!

So it has been super hot out lately and while waiting for the pool at my condo to warm up a bit I had Caitlyn outside playing her awesome Sensory Bin that Aunt Jeannette made her.

I can't get enough of Caitlyn in her little swim suit and hat. So stinking cute!!

Oh and guess who decided to walk around today holding on to only one of my hands? My little girl is going to be walking very soon... I think I might have said that a month ago. But this time I really mean it :)

Have a great day! Check back later this week for some super fantastic Zoo pics.
